[Open XML] La normalisation continue : des nouvelles du BRM
Nul doute que le vote du 2 septembre dernier n'a pas été dans le sens de la normalisation en l'état du standard ECMA 376, communément appelé Open XML, mais les dés ne sont pas pour autant jetés (surtout quand on voit la qualité, même perfectible, et le travail du TC 45 sur ce format de document en de nombreux points techniquement et fonctionnellement plus riche que ODF qui peine à rattrapper son retard).
L'ECMA a tenu à préciser dans sa news du 18 Octobre que le BRM (Ballot Resolution Meeting) était bien en route, et que même si le travail à faire reste assez important (on souhaite un bon courage à Rex), le format Open XML est toujours dans la course :

Ecma TC45 is maintaining active involvement leading up to the ballot resolution meeting February 25–29 by supporting the ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Editor, Rex Jaeschke, who has been tasked with producing a proposed disposition of all comments received during the ballot period.
The final Proposed Disposition of Comments document is due to Ballot Resolution Meeting delegates by January 14, 2008. In order to facilitate National Bodies review and consideration of the disposition of comments, Ecma has built and will maintain a web portal that hosts current drafts of the proposed dispositions which may become improvements to the specification. This portal located here will be accessible by National Body members only and will be updated by the Project Editor with new dispositions on a regular basis. Ecma has taken the additional step of offering a communication channel where National Bodies may send feedback to the proposed dispositions of their comments and dialogue with the ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Editor.
We look forward to continued cooperation and collaboration with the ISO, IEC, and ISO/IEC JTC 1 National Body members for the betterment of the Ecma Office Open XML File Formats Standard.

Le document présentant les dispositions aux commentaires des NB (dont l'AFNOR, notre NB national) sera donc être disponible par les NB autour du 14 Janvier 2008 sur le portail ouvert au NB.
En attendant ce travail, et/ou pour les retardataires, prenez le temps de lire les quelques articles parus sur le net (Microsoft, ASP/PHP) et la partie 1 (voire 3 pour les plus ambitieux) pour comprendre les apports du format Open XML dans nos systèmes d'information ou tout simplement en tant qu'utilisateur : robustesse (segmentation des données), protection (signature numérique/certificat X509), richesse (Office 2007 ...) et extensibilité (... mais pas seulement !)
